Once more we go to BCCA for my check with Dr. Sheila…. and once more all is well. It seems like such a long time since this process started.
If I remain well this is the last time I will see Dr. Sheila. And it’s bittersweet. I’m happy to be well and to remain well, but I have really appreciated her care of me. I tell her that I know she was just doing her job… but it’s how the job was done that made a difference to me. She didn’t feed me any bullshit. She treated me with respect. That’s all I can ask. Future follow-ups will be done by my family doctor, Dr. Val. However, if anything doesn’t seem right I’ll be able to get in to see Dr. Sheila right away.
Afterward we go to Zambri’s for lunch and then come home to rest. Tonight we’ll have friends over for a few drinks and a little celebration of my remission. Life is good. Let it continue.
WOW….that is absolutely fabulous, wonderful news Tom!!
We are so happy for you both and send you big hearty congrats. Now go out and live life to it’s fullest and really enjoy the small and the big things that life has to offer… you’ve both made it through a difficult journey. YEAH!
Dearest Tom and Cass,
Because today is a special anniversary day for the start of your relationship, I was smiling a lot and thinking about the two of you.
Wouldn’t you know it? A girlfriend called this morning, full of terror, to tell me her husband was just diagnosed with leukemia. Yes, I know leukemia is different than lymphoma and his prognosis is different than yours was. However, I felt so happy and grateful that I could offer her some comfort by emailing her a link to this blog. I knew that no one can know what they are going through except for someone who has been there.
I told her “You’ll love the humorous, direct, ‘no bullshit’ way he writes.” She’s the published author of a book about playing bridge. I knew she’d also love and relate to the entries posted by Cass.
Congratulations on two years! It was great to see you in November.
Love you tons,
Carol
Here, here!
That’s really a sign of success in fighting for a disease, great!
