3rd Radiation Treatment of 20
Radiation Dose Received to Date: 4.5Gy
Total Dose Prescribed: 30Gy

Today I have my third radiation treatment. It’s funny how strange it feels when you’re in the bunker. Even though they are watching me on closed-circuit TV, listening to me through an intercom, and it doesn’t take more than a couple minutes, it is the loneliest place I have ever been.

I am getting used to the routine. It seems they do four shots of radiation at me. Three are from the top and the last one is through my back. I always know that I am almost done because the gantry (head) of the unit swings around underneath me and the table I am lying on lifts up to allow it to get under there.

For some reason I am very anxious this afternoon after the rads. I am tired and a little short of breath. I’m sure it is just stress. I feel better after Cass gets home and takes me to dinner. We have spicy Vietnamese noodle soup. Yummy. I feel even better after a ‘pam’ (lorazepam).

One of the possible side effects of the rads is a burning skin rash. To help minimize this Cass rubs lotion on me every evening. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
